2011 LGPA "PERSONNELIST OF THE YEAR' AWARDS PROGRAM
INSTRUCTIONS
I. PURPOSE
LGPA's "Personnelist of the Year" Awards are designed to recognize the "Best and Brightest" of our profession with appropriate awards and honors for outstanding performance in their respective Personnel / Human Resources function.
II. DECLARATION AND AWARDS PRESENTATION
Personnel / Human Resource Directors of all LGPA member jurisdictions are encouraged to observe professional contributions to our respective governments, authorities, boards, and commissions. Awards will be presented at the 2011 Fall Inservice Training event.
III. CONDITIONS
A. Candidates nominated must be employees engaged in performing a personnel function with a LGPA member jurisdiction as defined in the award category.
B. A separate form must be completed for each nominee for each award category.
C. Only nominations signed, dated, and postmarked by the closing the will be accepted for consideration by the Awards Committee.
IV. INSTRUCTIONS
A. Type or legibly print all information on nomination form except signature. Forms may be reproduced as needed and attachments may be submitted to support nomination.
B. Complete all sections of nomination form.
• AWARD CATEGORY - select the one category which best represents the functions that the candidate performs.
• CANDIDATE INFORMATION - be specific in describing duties, functions, responsibilities and performance. The awards will be based primarily on this verified information, so provide adequate information. It is not necessary to fill a three ring binder to submit a quality nomination.
•NOMINATOR'S INFORMATION - attach a separate sheet if necessary. Indicate nominator's work relationship to candidate as subordinate, peer, supervisor, or associate. If not from candidate's department, office, or agency, please explain interest.
• CERTIFICATION AUTHORIZATION - each nomination must be certified or authorized by a supervisor, manager, administrator, director, commissioner, or other official in the nominee's jurisdiction as verification of employment and jurisdictional endorsement. The LGPA is an organization of member jurisdictions, not individuals.
• AWARDS CRITERIA/CATEGORY:
The IPMA-HR Awards Judges will review nominations and select winners in any or all of the following categories based on exemplary performance:
Individual Personnel / HR Specialist / Generalist
Individual performance for specific contributions in the field of personnel service (i.e., classification/compensation, recruitment, employee services, training, benefits, etc.).
Personnel Executive (Jack Foster Award)
For overall individual contributions, leadership, and influence in the field of personnel services by an elected, appointed, or merit system official.
Personnel / Human Resources Team
Team performance for overall contributions in the field of Human Resources.
C. Complete the enclosed questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed to allow an efficient and consistent manner for evaluation according to criteria for a particular area.
D. Nominations may be supported by commendations, letters of reference, evaluation, or other documentation for committee consideration.
E. Awards will be based on candidate's creativity and performance including demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in planning, organizing, directing, controlling, completing, motivating, communicating, problem-solving, supervising, managing, or administering the personnel function for which they are nominated.
